About opticianworks.com
What you see and what you read on this site has been reviewed by several working opticians, a doctor of optometry, and several opticianry students. opticianworks.com is a continuous work in progress, and will be revised and expanded as time allows.
opticianworks was launched in August of 2008.
My only regret to date is that the site name does not accurately describe the sites purpose. In fact the site is really for everyone involved in the field except opticians! I hope that opticians already know this stuff. Sadly the other terms related to the field do not properly convey the target audience any better so opticianworks it is.
I have two long term goals for the site.
First over the next few years I want to see an end to the textbook Ophthalmic Dispensing. It is antiquated, expensive, awkward, and worst of all it makes a relatively simple subject seem far more complex than it needs to be. Second I want to see opticianworks as a consistent top ten on a Google search of the word optician.
